8.9.06 - We've kept you up to date so you know Carey has been busy and getting busier. He's been out playing live with his band [now called "Familiar Stranger"]. They, without any hesitation from this writer, have gelled into a finely tuned unit. Their live show has arrived and not a minute too soon. Moving like a "soulful tsunami", they play Carey's songs with subtle dynamics and powerful musicianship that leave sweet spaces allowing Carey's voice to serve goose bumps to us on a silver platter of originality. If you're in Nashville don't miss the show this Thursday, 8/10 at the Mercy Lounge.


Carey has been hard at it writing, producing and arranging at his home studio, Velvet Shoreline Productions. His recordings have been drawing accolades from everyone who has heard them. Lo-fi and special. Carey is a madman in the studio. A typical session will last at least 14 hours. I've been there. Wild shizza!!! Watching perpetual creative motion is truly a sight to see, and according to Carey, "we ain't seen nothing yet!" Believe it.

Carey and Familiar Stranger go into Nashville's Cal4 studios Aug. 26/27 to multi track 4 new songs. By then they'll be flashing their new all leather Guitar straps and gig bags which are the results of another sweet endorsement from renowned Guitar Strap etc. manufacturer, Levy's Leathers.
