9.19.06 - Well everyone, we're coming to the end of another summer. Thought it time to say hello and catch you up on recent activity regarding Carey's career. First of all the buzz keeps building via the internet. Reviews keep coming in such as the Harp magazine review below. It's pretty cool that so many people are saying so many good things about Carey. The pro-Carey Ott renderings are collectibles to reflect on to keep the ship steady.... in time headed for the inevitable success that everyone is predicting.

It's been very busy and it's not slowing down. Between gigs, song writing, producing and recording it has been a track meet and a whirlwind of creativity! Carey's new production workshop Velvet Shoreline Productions is proving to be an exciting and meaningful venture. Check out the link here. Carey's band, tentatively named "Familiar Stranger" is coming of age very quickly and this sizzling 4 piece is just that ... "Sizzling!" A couple of weeks back they popped into Cal IV's wonderful multi-track recording studio on Music Row in Nashville and layed down 7 new tracks. Check out the pics.

Lucid Dream has been officially launched in Canada with highly respected Montreal based Fusion 3 Distribution assisting in breaking new ground. The Canucks should go nuts for this solid piece of timeless composition. Up next is the UK and the Netherlands. There are already media commitments in place. Two great territories where we can keep building the story while a story is smoldering slowly but surely in the U.S. in preparation for the official U.S. launch.This past Friday Carey was in St. Louis at the Off Broadway Night Club and Saturday at North West Missouri University co-headling with "Ingram Hill." Carey travels to Birmingham, Sept. 28 for a show at the Workplay Theatre. Keep checking on our tour listings on Carey's site. Include part-time Chicago bank teller Carey Ott on a short list that includes Ron Sexsmith, Neil Finn and Josh Rouse, sensitive, crafty souls whose ways with words pulls us in like fireflies. Whether finger-picking a slumber-filled McCartneyish summer song like "Kicking Stones," revving the '60s sunshine love in "You Got Love" or adopting a svelte falsetto in brisk opener "Am I Just One," Ott consistently hits all the right notes with a clear-eyed sense of joy. An album of small moments and pervasively uplifting melodies, Lucid Dream never delves too deep or shoots too high, Ott acting like a temperate street busker reflecting our lives as we rush by. He even alludes to cult favorites like Michael Penn ("Daylight") and David Gates (or is that Rufus Wainwright in "Hard to Change"?) Dream on......
