Hello Folkies!
I'm back in Nashville drinking a Modelo especial, thinking of all of you. Canadian Music Week was fabulous. Special (especial) shout out to Benny P. and Ashey S. for accompanying me on my musical journey, live at the Library Bar...man that was nice. We played Human Heart, and Unwind and Life I Live, and Ain't No Upside and many more, all to a crowd of happily buzzed onlookers. It was truly an experience to be on my first panel. And I saw Slash's panel, which was a hoot. I met the dude who wrote, "The Gambler." And he was quite cordial. He couldn't accept the CD I offered him, because he said "my attorneys won't let me." Apparently, he's afraid he might subconsciously steal one of my delicious melodies and I (or one of my legal henchmen, ahahahahahaaahahaa) will sue him for copyright infringement. Hmmm. So, dude can't watch T.V. or listen to the radio either I suppose. Life is interesting. Always somebody telling ya a new one ya never heard before. Just gotta smile. :-)
I'm so excited to get back to Toronto! That is such a cool city. Had some spicy Thai food in Kensington Market and knew that me and Toronto were gonna get along just fine...
Human Heart is in full production mode. Mixing is underway. And the whole shebang! should be together by late summer '10. I've decided to embrace social media. Finally!!
I met with the lovely Arial Hyatt (Cyber P.R. guru), and she is going to help me work this whole internet doohickey. I'm buying a video camera tomorrow. So, expect to see me bare it all in the coming days and months!!! Musically speaking, of course ;-)
I am pumped. YouTube here I come. I'm gonna do some kickass cover tunes (always wonderfully obscure) like The Kinks' "No Return," and "Morning Theft" by Jeff Buckley, and a Leonard Cohen song, or a Nick Drake, Tom Petty, Radiohead or Cat Stevens tune!!! Along with all the Carey Ott classics you've (c'mon, maybe?) come to know and love?!!
Stay tuned!
Much love to you...
xo,
-Carey
